MATCH SUMMARY

Andy in special testimonial strip
A healthy crowd of just under 500 turned out tonight to witness an entertaining game of football between an Annan Athletic select and an Andy Aitken Queen of the South select. The game was limited to 35 minutes each way to protect the Galabank pitch and maybe to save a few legs!

There were some great former stars in the Queens line up and demonstrated plenty of skill and determination to take a 3-0 half time lead. The first goal took many of the crowd back a few years as Tommy Bryce picked up a pass from Derek Townsley and nipped into the box to slide it between the post and Annan and former Queens 'keeper Rab McColm.

Tam slots his goal home
The next two goals showed that Stevie Mallan still knows the way to goal as he first collected a Warren Hawke through ball and slipped it past McColm and the second just on the stroke of half-time when Marv was let alone at the back post and crashed a cross into the roof of the net.

Stevie nets his first of three
The second half saw the introduction of three substitutes for Queens but only two went off. It was quickly realised however and Derek Anderson sat back down on the bench for a few minutes until he could replace Andy Aitken. Fifteen minutes into the half and Stevie Mallan smashed a half volley from the edge of the box into the back of the net to celebrate his hat-trick. He was immediately substituted with former Annan player Stuart Dalgliesh taking his place upfront.

Andy then delighted the home crowd as he came on as a substitute for Annan and spent the last ten minutes attempting to get his name on the scoresheet. However Annan did score a consolation but it came through Ally Sloan and not the 'Annan lad'. In goals for Queens tonight was Colin Coltart, who featured in the BP Youth Cup Final Queens team from years back.

We're sure all Annan fans would love to see Andy in this strip once again!
